Street Level Wayfinding

Challenge:
While implementing a log entry tracking system for the Los Angeles Downtown Center Business Improvement District, we discovered that their Purple Patrol Ambassadors were spending an inordinate amount of time on their walky talkies communicating back to base. The majority of the requests were time consuming requests for directions to area businesses and attractions that tied up communication channels or were bumped for higher priority public safety related requests.

Approach:
Eponic created a Street Level Wayfinding System that enabled the sidewalk ambassadors to quickly access a database of every business in the BID. Carrying a portable mini-printer the ambassadors are able to print out detailed walking directions to these businesses and area attractions.

Results:
According to Mindy Rosen, Director of Marketing and Communications for the LA DCBID, “this is a slam dunk, the ambassadors are more responsive, and visitors are surprised with the printouts and love the service.“

Eponic has implemented this system for all its BID clients.
